Summary/Abstract: Zenica after World War II has become a metallurgical center and the main initiator of economic development in Yugoslavia, but also has experienced the greatest urban expansion in its history. The problem of housing designed for the accommodation of the new work-force, has become a priority of the local government. This paper, written primarily on the basis of newspapers’ articles in the local weekly newspapers Our Word, analyzes the relationship of local authorities towards the problem, the ways to solve it and the consequences that followed.
