Summary/Abstract: Alexej Pludek’s novel Nepřítel z Atlantidy, which was published in the year of 1982 in the period of “normalization”, won a state prize and had excellent (official) reviews although its literary quality was very poor and the novel was openly anti-Semitic. Antiutopia, which takes place in the mythic Atlantis, allegorically shows the ideal model of government, ordering society and solution of problems, which corresponded to universal communistic ideal in many respects. However, the paper also shows modification of this ideal, which was typical for the stage of “real socialism” in the seventies and eighties. Pludek’s novel shows the model of behaviour and values preferred in this phase of Communist regime (which was based on unity, submission, strict rules, and control), shows the image of ideological enemies and normalization interpretation of the “Prague Spring” too.
