Summary/Abstract: The author of this study focuses on eighteenth years in the periodicals of Ukrainian national minority in Slovakia. The Ukrainian periodic press in Slovakia brought on its pages contributions on major events in the years ending with an eight. She chose five such events: the anniversary of the Prešov Greek-Catholic Eparchy (1818), the establishment of Czechoslovakia (1918), the Munich Agreement (1938), February 1948 and the occupation of the Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Treaty troops (1968). We observed them in three following Ukrainian periodicals: “Nove žytťa”, a two-week period of Rusyns-Ukrainians periodic press, published by the Union of Rusyns-Ukrainians in Slovakia (ZRUSR); “Dukľa”, a literary-artistic and journalistic magazine, published by the Society of Ukrainian Writers of Slovakia; and “Veselka”, a monthly journal for children, published by ZRUSR in 1958, 1968, 1978, 1988, 1998, 2008 and 2018.Our assumption has been confirmed that, given the focus of the three periodical press of the Ukrainian national minority in the Slovak Republic (“Nove žytťa”, “Dukľa” and “Veselka”), the selected events regarding will the years ending with an eight appear only to a limited extent. In the years ending with an eight, the periodicals published in total twenty two contribution regarding the years ending with an eight events.
