Summary/Abstract: The bibliography of works on Kosovo and Metohija in the publications of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), its departments, committees and institutes covers the period between 1990 and 2007. It includes the bibliographic descriptions of 536 entries divided into two sections: Kosovo and Metohija in the monographs published by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Kosovo and Metohija in the periodical publications of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Within the sections, the entries are arranged alphabetically according to authors’ names. The authors’ names in the entries are unified so as to conform to the unique headings; they are cited in the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet (regardless of the alphabet of the cited publication) and listed in the order of the Cyrillic alphabet. The same alphabet is used in physical descriptions and notes. The bibliography is accompanied with three indexes: an author index (with three sub-indexes), a title index (with three sub-indexes) and a subject index. The numbers in the indexes indicate bibliographic entries. As the number of bibliographic entries is very large, it has been fairly difficult to assign them to individual subjects due to the interdisciplinary approach to Kosovo and Metohija in the publica tions of SASA. The same publication could be listed under two, three or more subjects, and it has been left to the bibliographer to make the final decision regarding the classification. For example, entry no. 260 belongs to the People: diplomacy, literature and history but also to Literature, folk literature. Although the publishing activities of the SASA date back to 1847 (Glasnik as the official bul letin of the Society of Serbian Letters), it was only with the introduction of abstracts in foreign languages in 1933 (Bulletin) that the international academic audience was able to get informed about its work. Even today, it is beyond dispute that the presence of a short summary in one of the major international languages is extraordinarily important for research and scholarly work, as well as for any other activities that involve academic exploration. For this reason, the sub index entitled Summary titles has been compiled. According to the standards, the bibliographic descriptions of monographs and periodical publi cations are not the same. This Bibliography also contains analytical entries for the three thematic issues of periodical publications (Goranci, Muslimani i Turci u šarplaninskim župama Srbije; Govori severne Metohije; Goranies, Muslims and Turks in the Šar (Shar) Mountain Župas (Par ish) of Serbia), which are described using the model applied to journal articles. In order to make it easier for readers to identify the descriptions of each entry, the source titles are provided in the lower fields of the bibliographic descriptions and are preceded with “У:” (In:). For the same reason, abbreviations are used: САНУ (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts) and ГИ (Geographical Institute). The province of Kosovo and Metohija has always been the subject of research by scholars and professionals of various orientations at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The essential value of this Bibliography is that it brings together a body of information on these activities of the SASA between 1990 and 2007, making it available to the general public.
