Summary/Abstract: The present paper is a general survey of the work of an Aelianus who dedicated his Taktika to Trajan on the eve of the Parthian wars. The work, which has often been overlooked, shows how a contemporary scholar assumed that a knowledge of the tactics used by Alexander against the Persians (as predecessors to the Parthians) could still lead to success.
