Summary/Abstract: Rome 1938: General Francesco S. Grazioli’s Trajanic cohors. The essay presents an unpublished document about the guidelines to a project to set up a Trajanic cohors, dated 7th september 1938. The author was General Francesco S. Grazioli, who was appointed by the Italian Government to organize a Roman military formation of the Augustan age, with the purpose to parade it during the closing ceremonies of the Augustan Bimillenary. Unexpectedly Grazioli illustrated these project guidelines, which was in the end never realized, showing himself to have been inspired by Trajanic iconography. This also proves the great evocative strength of emperor Trajan‟s power and ideology.
