Summary/Abstract: The author examines the development of the language of advertising texts from the years 1990-2001 using selected newspapers and TV in three aspects connected with rhetorical persuasion. These are addressing forms, imperatives and the use of personal authority. The empirical text analysis shows changes in the frequency of their occurrence, which lead to conclusions concerning the development of advertising techniques in Poland.
