Summary/Abstract: This article aims to give a global perspective of the concept of the imaginary, to present its evolution in different areas of interest of researchers, while emphasizing its importance in linguistics. It is associated with linguistics and norms in a field which we describe briefly to explain the conditions of production of this generous theory which has aroused the interest of the researchers who have applied it successfully in discursive corpora of the most varied.
