Summary/Abstract: This article presents the concept of sustainable development that is defined as a tool leading not only to economic growth, but in the long run also to elimination of the disproportions within a society. In this context, private and public institutions act to help foster social and economic inclusion of all existing social groups, as well as maintain safety in terms of environmental protection (such practices are known as inclusive growth). In this publication, the authors are focusing on the importance of finance in the concept of sustainable development. The authors argue that the financial system (financial institutions, financial markets and avoidable regulations) plays a key role in the realization of goals of sustainable development.
