Summary/Abstract: The reviewed publication is an important voice in the discussion on the extent to which the concept of sustainable development is still a current paradigm of development (scientific, political and social) and where there are barriers to the full implementation of this idea, both internationally and locally. The signatories of the "Warsaw Appeal" encourage to take a civic debate on the practical aspects of implementing sustainable development. It seems that the reviewed publication can be a good source of knowledge not only for academicians dealing with sustainable development from the scientific side, but also for social, business and citizen organizations. It should interest all those who perceive the quality of life extensively, not only through the prism of economic indicators, but also in the aspect of high quality of the environment and friendly, non-exclusive public spaces.
