Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with the translation of video games, an emerging topic in audiovisual translation and software localisation, which has known a dramatic market expansion in recent years. Focusing in particular on the constitutive features of the medium and on the vibrant culture of user communities, we seek to lay the foundations for a functional approach to video game translation.
