Summary/Abstract: The article aims at presenting a general concept of security, and especially the one which could be applied to the studies of security in international relations, state security, business security, and individual person security. The starting point is the assumption that the subject of security, i.e. the individual which has the feature of being safe, can only be an object with its own axiology, some store of material and / or nonmaterial goods and the ability to make and carry out decisions that are beneficial from the accepted values point of view. The scope of such objects determines the universum of security studies. The security issue arises when a conflict of values appears. A catalogue of such values remains open and it might be a basis for the security approach analysis. Such a perspective is nonspecific because of the security subject, which gives a possiblity for a wide theoretical application.
