Summary/Abstract: Between 1990 and 2014 maritime and air transport, together with telecommunications in Poland underwent deep fluctuations and structural changes based on dynamic systematic and economic transformations, the EU membership and technological change. Air freight increased, while the importance of maritime and inland water freight decreased. A spectacular increase was observed in air passenger transport, particularly on international routes. Maritime passenger transport slightly increased and at the same time inland passenger transport substantially decreased. Poland s membership in the EU caused a massive increase in international road and air transport, however, the overall freight decreased. The technological change was expressed particularly through the development of mobile communications and the Internet.
