Summary/Abstract: This paper explores lithium-ion batteries as a part of the leading innovative energy storage technologies. Special attention is paid to the use of Li-Ion batteries in the automotive industry, in particular in electric and hybrid cars, as well as their use as a means of energy storage for both domestic and industrial use. The main factors influencing the pricing of lithium-ion batteries are also discussed.
