THE EVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENT OF THE EUROPEAN UNION ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Summary/Abstract: The European environmental policy is among the most up-to-date and discussed policies at global and international level. This is because the environmental problems continue to be one of the most serious modern challanges that humanity faces. Having existed for over four decedes, the environmental policy has become an essential part of the development of the European Union (EU). Throughout all this time, this policy has been changed many times, and as a result of that, today European Union has one of the most comprehensive environmental laws in the world. Despite all the efforts made at the EU level, it still faces many problems in this area. Based on various literature sources, this paper outlines the main stages in the evolution of this policy. It clarifies some essential issues such as: the reason for the emergence of this policy, its development over time, and the main issues and challenges the EU is to resolve in future.
