Summary/Abstract: Susceptibility to (di)simulation of different personality measures has been investigated in many studies, but most of them used simulation of different conditions by giving different types of instructions for filling out personality questionnaires in an occupational setting. Consequently, there is a small amount of studies that have data from a real personnel selection situation, while the tendency of personality measures used in personnel selection is in an increase in Croatia. Therefore, the general aim of this study was to contribute to the knowledge of the amount of social desirability in job-applicants’ personality traits assessments. In that way we tried to contribute to the assessment of criterion validity of personality questionnaires in personnel selection. The study included 1176 job-applicants. The results showed significant effects of the situation (selection vs. non-selection) on the assessment of relevant personality traits. As it was expected, job- -applicants showed lower levels of neuroticism and psychoticism and higher levels of extraversion, internality and proactivity, in comparison to the control group.
