Summary/Abstract: The authors of the study examined the influence of the sequence of socially desirable and socially undesirable announced tv – news on comprehension. Subjects processed the news significantly better as grouped in the desirable block followed by the undesirable block. Desirable news were more efficiently comprehended in any case compared to undesirable ones. Alternating presentation resulted in a significantly better understanding of the undesirable news. News understanding was influenced by the degree of empathy only in the case of the alternating presentation.
