Summary/Abstract: The present work aims to present the main potential sources of marine renewable energy: offshore wind and ocean energy (wave, tide, marine currents, temperature gradients, salinity gradients)and their social and environmental impact to make an analysis of the degree of capitalization of these alternative energy sources. The main objective of the proposed research is to identify the most relevant strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) in order to outline an overview of the use of the renewable marine energy resources at the European level that is to identify the possibilities of increasing the quota of exploiting the potential of the marine energy sector.
