The specificity of the signs of periphrastic predication: Valency and its linguistic description – problems and resolution proposal

Summary/Abstract: The focus of the present text is the uniqueness of the grammatical and semantic characteristics of the verbo-nominal constructions sharing the following structure: [VerbSYNSEM + NA/NE/Nabstr]. Such constructions represent a unique type of analytical / periphrastic exponents of predication. Structures of this type also develop their own models of valency and government, thus (despite visible analogies) differing from the semantic requirements of other lexemes–especially verbs, with which the constructions under study enter into a variety semantic and functional relations. Therefore, it seems useful to postulate that separate dictionaries of periphrastic verbo-nominal constructions should be compiled.
