Summary/Abstract: In science fiction, intergalactic space serves as a natural medium for the major, decisive encounter with the Alien. In cyberpunk, which is produced by the genre, this space becomes internal and (computation) technically constructed. With the interiorization in science fiction, the tremendous size of these is not reduced, so adventurous plots and various narrative turns remain possible. Alternative space constructions depicted in the novels are characterized by post-alphabetical motion pictures. This study aims to show that cyberpunk stories can be understood as narrativizations of cyberspace and other alternative technical space constructions. The interpretation includes the genre's classic works: Neuromancer by William Gibson, the works of Philip K. Dick and Dan Simmons, as well as the latest creations of relevant film productions.
