Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the analysis of active participles (in uses where their verbal properties are predominant) from syntactic perspective. The research was conducted at the text The Serbian Alexander romance (Српска Александрида), specifically at the transcript from the second half of the 15th century, which is called in science The Manuscript A, the issue was edited by Stojan Novakovic in 1878. At the syntactic-semantic level participles were presented in their fundamental, adverbial function and then the deviations of the canonic use were presented afterwards. With the aim of more accurate determination of the style of the studied piece, the obtained results were compared to the results of the participle analysis in the critical issue of The Serbian Alexander romance whose basis contains the transcript from the second half of the 16th century (written in Serbian Church Slavonic language of the lower style).
