Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes linguistic politeness in local electronic media and examines the forms of addressing the guests by the journalist. The aim is to establish how the hosts of the informative programmes on local TV channels address their guests. Linguistic aims that are being analyzed are the forms of pronouns we and you. The ways in which journalists express respect and professional distance towards guests are examined. Addressing guess with we/you is the backbone of the politely addressing the interlocutor. By choosing the pronoun we or you, the speaker expresses its point of view and its relation towards the other person. The etiquette of the polite speech in public discourse implies addressing an unknown interlocutor in the second person (You). In TV shows addressing in the second person is of more flexible character and is left for the journalist to decide.
