Summary/Abstract: Man, who was created in the image and likeness of God, is called to work. The work is the very basic right and duty of a man. The teaching of John Paul II about the dignity of human work that comes from the dignity of human being and about the rights and duties connected with the human work has its roots in the Gospel. The teaching is an important part of the social teaching of the Church, both in the 19th c. and 20th c. and also during the pontificate of Benedict Xvi and Francis.
