Summary/Abstract: The wide layers of cultural and literary knowledge and information of the writer Anton Pashku, as seen in his novel Oh, express themselves as memory of the greatness and the shrinking of ethnicity, only to end in an exclamation, in a deep wail that becomes an expression of pain and of individual and collective hopelessness. Outbursts of lost glory, continual collapse, ongoing loss and fraction come with this emotional exclamation, therefore Pashku's Oh is the oh of the individual when facing society, as well as the oh of ethnicity when facing recurring tragedy, an endless tragedy that derives from invasion and withering. Moreover, this is also an antithesis of what was once Ilyrian-Arbanon ethnicum, whether as an ideal creation, as an imaginary world, or as what remains from that ethnicum. Thus, memory clashes with fact and reality. Being two very distinct worlds, one as great, the other as flawed, these two worlds cannot avoid the creation of such incompatibility, an irreconcilable opposition that surfaces in the literary text through the figure of antithesis.
