Summary/Abstract: The Apostolicam actuositatem Decree, signed by Pope Paul VI, arose as a result of Pope John XXIII’s desire to restore the Church and confront it with the problems of the contemporary world. Literally the Decree’s name can be translated as apostolic activity. The Pope realised what important place lay people held in the Church as far as this activity was concerned. The Pope considered them as an essential element in the process of spreading Christianity. However, the actual Decree was approved and signed up during the pontificate of Pope Paul VI on November 18, 1965. A very important point in the Decree’s development was that a several women were also invited to discuss and contribute their views on the expansion of the apostolate. The Decree expresses the idea of renewal of the Church, based on the knowledge and experience of the Church on various fronts and sections of life. That is why in different parts it describes not only the objectives of the lay apostolate, but also the apostolic activities, schedules, formation and apostolate call to spread the Gospel. By defining these requirements the Decree has become an essential part of any decree of a layman who proclaims Christ by your life. It also speaks to each person to make acquiring desire to enter into communion with God.
