Some contributions of Kolec Topalli in the field of phonetics

Summary/Abstract: The study and the approach of historical, grammatical and phonetic changes requires great knowledge and the ability to face various difficulties, especially when one has to go through rebuilding forms in the case when a language has been documented in a written form rather late in history due to its lack of proper documenting at the right time. Such is the case with Albanian language. In such cases, it is only natural that historical and linguistic comparison within Albanian and then with cognate languages must take place, since changes are a consequence of internal processes and phonetic rules, which must be inevitably present in all languages. This articles illustrates and analyzes the work o Dr. Kolec Topalli in the discipline of phonetics. Topalli is a researcher and the author of many scientific books, winner of many prizes, including the prize of "Mësues i Popullit". He has produced a considerable source of research in the history of language which serves as supportive scientific basis for linguistic researchers. The aim of this article is a modest synopsis of his contribution in the field of phonetics, since his work includes a considerable amount of studies of the highest level, specifically in the field of phonetics and etymology, without leaving aside the further investigation of Albanian morphosyntax.
