Internet of things – the technological context and areas of application

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to review systems and information technologies functioning under the common term of the Internet of Things, a description of the possibilities and scope of their application, as well as to define a clear criterion used to distinguish them. As part of the research, a number of concepts have been described, which should enable a better understanding of the functioning of the ecosystem of connected originally non-digital objects, at the same time indicating the role of human and the problems of data collection and processing.
