Grammar in service of language interaction

Summary/Abstract: This paper is a contribution to build a functional grammar of spoken language. I propose a model of the next construction unit in conversation related to the syntax of the sentence structure in Albanian. The comparison between them suggests that there are important points between syntax and interactional organization. Specific parts of speech are used by interlocutors in order to accomplish specific actions during the conversation. Based on this, the role of adverbs functioning as token in the the spoken language is going to be discusses from the aspect of the link between the opinion, the evaluation and the experience of speakers about what he/she says. I propose the usage of the term evaluative adverbs as well a classification of them in Albanian taking into account the classification of stance adverbials in English. The paper in hand is based on a corpus of real conversations in both dialects of Albanian.
