The idea of a 6th Republic in the 2007 presidential campaign

Summary/Abstract: Twelve candidates have been qualified to compete for the presidential election. As the idea of a new republic is shared by several of them, we would like to analyze the way they would initiate the main institutional reforms. In addition to this, the debate on political and administrative institutions shows different political styles. Does the claim for a new republic reveal a deep transformation of institutions which weakens the role of the president? This hypothesis will be discussed thanks to a comparison of all the different programmes and an analysis of the main political speeches.
