Summary/Abstract: Following Plato, as well as Aristotle, the first known important thinkers ofthe manipulative discourse were the sophists. The sophist way of argumentation showsthis fact. The principle of the sophists’ argumentation can be described by Protagoras’sthesis “On any subject there can be two arguments contrary to one another”. We canassert with success a statement about a problem as well as its opposite, we can praise aswell as criticize the same thing (if the interest demands it), whereas any truth is relativeand no one holds an unshakeable truth.
