Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article was to answer the question of how Polish Catholics responded to the Church’s call to accept refugees. Pope Francis appealed for this during the World Youth Day in Cracow a year ago. 33% of the respondents responded positively and 67% answered negatively to this appeal then. One year later, several Polish bishops came forward with similar appeals during the Corpus Christi processions held in Poland. Poles’ reactions were similar. More than 60% of respondents opposed the reception of refugees. Such results were influenced decisively by ruling politicians, right-wing journalists and a large number of clergy who were reluctant to refugees.
