The spiritual sphere of upbringing in the life of the youth

Summary/Abstract: A mass symptom of the contemporary world is spiritual emptiness which shows itself as a lack of an aim and sense of one’s life or its limitation to a brief and hedonistic dimension. The reason for the present state originates from an individual’s development. If it does not go in a proper way, it often results in permanent changes in young people’s personality. In the authors' opinion (who are a layman and a priest), it results from alack of proper engagement into one’s spiritual development and allowing it an important place while a human being is shaped. Only the multidimensional development of one’s personality, including also spirituality, forms an important factor protecting in the prophylaxis of addictions and risky behaviors of children and young people and at the same time it is a necessary condition of proper upbringing. The aim of this article is to show the role of spirituality in the process of upbringing the youth through isolating a category of its understanding and describing the functions it fulfills in the lives of the researched ones, as well as selecting a category of spiritual experience and ways of experiencing spirituality, which will make it possible to support this sphere in a better way and its boosting in a pedagogic influence.
