Summary/Abstract: In the period of national rebirth, several Bessarabian writers became publicists in order to respond to the hot imperatives of the time, to uncover the blind spots of history and to speak truths that had been considered as taboos: if Bessarabians are or not Romanians, the real denomination of the language, and so on. Nicolae Dabija was perhaps the most influential publicist of 1991. His articles in the weekly Literatura și arta (Literature and Arts) represent a plea for bringing together all Romanians and breaking the boundaries that separate us. The Ripentrop-Molotov pact, the diabolic interests of the great powers are denounced as reprenhensible deeds that distorted our historic destiny. The dream of bringing together all Romanians is even more accute and alive today, when we comemorate the Centenary Year. The work of N. Dabija had constituted an opportunity to reflect on the historica truths that marked our past and could decide our future.
