Summary/Abstract: Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and the incidence of breast cancer is increasing from day to day in the developed and developing countries. People who have one or several first-degree relatives with breast cancer history and who have mutations in their BRCA-1 or BRCA-2 genes fall into high-risk group. Nurses should create anawareness by giving information to the women, who have a first-degree relative with a breast cancer, that they are at high-risk in terms of breast cancer, provide training about protection from breast cancer and methods of early diagnosis, repeat these periodically to transform training into behaviors and evaluate the results. However, it is considered that the needs of information and support of women who are at high-risk to getting breast cancer are not fulfilled by the healthcare professionals. The purpose of this compilation is to examine the status of being informed about the breast cancer risk, the factors and screening behaviors of first-degree relatives of women with breast cancer, in the light of researches conducted.
