Summary/Abstract: The article deals with transformation of the Communist Party of Sweden (SKP) into Left Party Communists (VPK) in the mid-1960s and subsequent transformation into Left Party (Vp) in 1990. The aim of this study is to analyze whether it is appropriate to classify the Vp as a member of the far left, together with the effort to localize more accurate position of the Vp within far left. The study first defines criteria for classification political parties into far left. Then we briefly introduce subdivision of this party type. The main section of the article fosuses on the analysis of the Vp. We accentuate genesis and evolution of the Vp and then we analyse its current ideological-programmatic profile. The article concludes with observation that it is appropriate to classify the Vp as a member of far left, more precisely far left democratic socialist party, because even through some contradictions in the relation of the Vp's politicians to historical legacies of the party, this contradictions have not broke out into party's programmatics, neither its mobilization strategies.
