Summary/Abstract: The Stârcea family is one of the ancient Romanian noble families whose line can be traced directly back to the 14th century. This study presents the story of the old Moldavian nobles (Boyards) who have served the Princes (Voivodes) of Moldavia, of those who have defended the interests of the Romanians from Bukovina (where the family received the title of Baron and the coat of arms) and have become Barons in the Habsburg Empire, of those who have become officials at the court of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and of those who also worked at the Court of the Romanian Royal House, under the rule of Kings Carol the Second and Michael the First.
