Assessment Criteria in Mixed Marriage Research

Summary/Abstract: Mixed marriages reflect the relation between various ethnic communities. There is nearly general consensus among researchers about the fact that mixed marriages constitute an important part of the relationship between the minority and the majority nation. However, researchers would largely disagree as to whether these relationships have a rather positive or negative effect on minority communities. The study summarizes the methodology and results of research carried out on mixed marriages concluded in the Carpathian Basin and the West Balkans. It devotes particular attention to the presentation of the approaches and results of research examining Hungarian–Serb mixed marriages.
