Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to find the answer to the question whether common verb-based comparisons are subject to nominalisation based on the use of word-formation processes. Previous research done by professor Stanisław Bąba contradicted this. However, the material gathered primarily by the author from Internet resources confirms that in contemporary Polish morphological nominalisation is used in a broader range in case ofcomparisons, e.g. siedzieć jak na rozżarzonych węglach → siedzenie jak na rozżarzonych węglach ( to be like a cat on hot bricks → being like a cat on hot bricks).
