Summary/Abstract: The paper starts with the description of the aging process and old age. It is followed by the analyses of provisions of national and international law as well as different programs aimed to provide security for the elderly and ensure that their rights are respected. In the next section, the phenomenon of ageism is discussed and presented as one of the causes of discrimination, exclusion, offenses and crimes against the elderly.
