Summary/Abstract: The present study addresses an idea, which is not necessarily new, but has aroused heated debate in the recent decades: the universal basic income - UBI. We aim to weigh the pros and cons of this generous hypothesis and try to find out whether it could be a viable solution to achieve freedom and social justice as well as restore the social consensus in a new welfare society.
