Summary/Abstract: Management strategies in banking after the beginning of new global crisis have focused on: reducing costs, new income sources, developing investment banking, sales management control strategies, and all these measures being aimed to maintain a good performance of the banks. But what is performance? The present study offers a theoretical base of the concept from available literature, focusing not on the general concept, but on performance from the point of view of strategic management in sales in the banking industry. The main objective of this study is to offer a perspective of performance of the Romanian Banking system after the new global financial crisis. To achieve this objective, it has been conceived a comparative study of available literature, critical analysis and professional experience of the author. The originality of this paper comes from a different perspective and the insights are valuable for the academic community as well as for practitioners, especially sales managers, who may serve them as a guide for their daily activity.
