Considerations on the transposition of Community environmental legislation

Summary/Abstract: Implementation of european environmental norms by the member states involves adapting national legislation so that it conformes to regulations and directives, and putting EC norms into practice.Member states are also required to submit reports to the Commission on specific aspects of the environment.The Court of Justice has emphasized the importance of prompt implementation of the directives.Community law has an enormous impact in Member States, where most environmental laws have been adopted in response to Community Regulations and Directives. In spite of this impact, there remain delayes and failures in implementing EC law.
