Summary/Abstract: The history of medieval Wallachia and modern Romania recorded several important dynasties, two of them – the first dynasty of Wallachia and the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen dynasty – having various common elements, such as the political legitimation, achieved by the Church intercession. In this respect, by being mentioned in a religious book, the prince’s or the king’s son could emphasise his political function as throne successor. This situation was typical for Mihnea Turcitul, in the 16 the century, while, in the 20th century, Carol II, although was involved in printing an official translation of the New Testament, failed to appear in its pages as crown heir, because he abandoned his prerogatives as throne successor.
