Summary/Abstract: Today, conservatism seems to be a dead and buried political philosophy. Many would argue that it deserves it, taking into account the centuries of political and economic stagnation, along with the intellectual oppression that defined the Middle Ages. Indeed, modernity’s victory over conservatism seems to be indisputable. However, nostalgic conservatives argue, this victory came with the price of losing the stability of meaning that benefited the premodern world. Without necessarily taking side in this dispute, my paper attempts a conceptual and synoptic synthesis between premodernity (conservatism) and radical modernity (critical theory), called constructivist communitarianism.
