Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to analyze the democracy in the countries from the Western Balkans. The transition of the political systems from a communist to democratic ones, and the transformation of the economies from planned to market ones have created a lot of practical problems for Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Kosovo (under 1244 UN Resolution). These countries had adopted the so-called “Western values”, like: democracy, rule of law, freedom, human rights, minority rights etc., but the problem is the concrete implementation of all these values. Although each of the Western Balkans’ countries is attached to the gains of the democracy, still the way of practicing of the power is close to autocracy, dictatorship or some other undemocratic regime.
