Summary/Abstract: Bourgeois criminal law is an independent legal branch of the Bulgarian legal system after the Liberation. Its history is related to the development of a Bulgarian state. In 1896 the first Bulgarian criminal law was passed. It provides legal regulation of the principles, functions and system of criminal law and determines whicе actions are crimes and what penalties can be imposed on their perpetrators.
