Political game and symbols under the lenses of the present times

Summary/Abstract: Politics is a game and a spectacle, which is reported by the media and followed by a public (or, a specific public, or a fraction of a general public). Attention is solicited by the symbols that focus the stakes and the aims of political play – people, ideas or objects may therefore become political symbols. They are always ambiguous, and they exuviate constellations of meaning that go from the convenient, and reassuring meanings to the more threatening ones. Thus, political symbols brings to the fore political language, discourse and interpretation, comparably important now against the background of political institutions and actions. The author sets in motion the interpretations of symbols via examples emphasizing their roles in comprehending the interests and the politics of the present contexts.
