The Evolution of Changes and Tasks of the Central Banks in Perspective of the Financial Crisis' Experiences

Summary/Abstract: The evolution in the activities of central banks results particularly from the experiences of the recent financial crisis. Its consequences forced creation of the new legal framework for central banks, which formed new conditions for the functioning of the financial system. Additionally, market and organizational background (the situation in the banking sector) influences the necessity for the changes and leads to redefinition of the role and the importance of a central bank in a financial system and economy. Presently central banks bear responsibility for both monetary and macroprudential policies.
