Summary/Abstract: The political, economic, social, cultural and informational changes in the society can lead to geographical movements of the population. The world is a mosaic and requires a closer analysis of its contact languages and cultures. Our work reviews concepts related to diversity, pluriculturalism, multiculturalism, multicultural education, especially from the perspective of an EFL teacher. Other elements considered are the need to improve the curriculum, to facilitate knowledge construction and understanding of the elements specific to other cultures, to assist the newcomers’ integration into the society, to discuss the role of extracurricular activities, parents and community in this process.
