Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the particularities of the financial technology industry, how is FinTech defined and how can the financial technology solutions implemented by companies be categorised. Also it approaches FinTech’s appeal to the consumer and the effects, both disruptive and positive, that it had on the financial industry, as well as the growth this industry has seen in recent years. It will also analyse the implementation of FinTech solutions by the financial service providers active on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), which were determined by the market institutions or by the regulatory framework set by Romanian Financial Supervisory Authority as well as solutions aimed to provide better services to their customers, in the form on online trading platforms.
